"When I first stepped on to the mats last December, I weighed in at 235 and could barely make it up the stairs without huffing and puffing. After six months of training Brazilian jiu-jitsu with Patric and Nate, I am now down to 205 and have lost six inches off my waistline. All I did was train BJJ, begin a sensible fitness program, and pay closer attention to what I was eating. A workout has to be fun if you’re going to stick to it. If it’s too mechanical, if you begin to feel like a mouse running around a wheel, then you’ll get bored and it will become just another chore. BJJ kept me interested and the friendly competition allowed me to practice for long periods of time."

"…Brazilian Jiu Jitsu compliments and expands upon the training I have received at the police academy. As a State Trooper your nearest backup often times can be a half hour away, so defensive tactics are extremely important… … In the short time I have been training I have become confident that I will be able neutralize an attack well enough that I can subdue the person and place them into custody... ...My advice to anyone on a Police Department, in the Military or any Citizen looking for a no-nonsense, effective self-defense course is to start training in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. Knowledge equals power!!"

Rob Ferraro, State Trooper

"With 90% of all street confrontations going to the ground, I began to research the most effective defensive training available for law enforcement and I found Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (Ground Fighting) to meet those needs... ...After looking at different schools, I chose Mass BJJ of Acton Massachusetts. The instructors here are extremely professional and dedicated to the art of BJJ. The experience and skill level they present in both the training and conditioning, are unrivaled when compared to any of the other training I have experienced. I have found the students who train here are always respectful and courteous. In the short period of time I have been training, I have found my skill level and confidence with street confrontations have improved dramatically."

Sergeant Lawrence, Bolduc NHSP Troop-B

"Another point that often comes up is – people ask me “don't you wish you starting training when you were younger. “ While the knee jerk answer to that question is yes. When I think more about it I view it differently. I am just happy that I found Jiu Jitsu when I did. Not to get overly philosophical but Jiu Jitsu is really a big part of my life and it has changed me for the better. How many people go through life everyday with out any passion about anything. Going home and watching TV, sitting on the couch with no real interests to get excited about. Jiu Jitsu came into my life at a time when I was completely bored with working out and was not getting my competitive desires fulfilled. There was something lacking in my life the last 5 or so years and I did not know what it was. I was going through life although happy not fulfilled, there was a part of "brain" that was not getting used. Since I started using this part of my brain/spirit/soul is finally coming alive. I did not know what i was missing because I did not feel it before. Oh well I could go on and on but I do not want to bore you guys. I am sure you can understand where I am coming from given your devotion the the Art. All I can say is that I am forever grateful for introducing me to Jiu Jitsu and especially learning it the RIGHT way."

"With Brazilian Ju Jitsu ("BJJ"), my health and self-defense abilities changed dramatically. At age 49, I had accumulated a host of sports injuries, including a herniated disc. Also, even though I was a traditional "kick and punch" martial artist, I still worried about the clinch and ground phases of self defense. Consequently, I started training in BJJ. Now, at age 51, I have my youthful flexibility, strength and stamina back. Furthermore, I have a more balanced striking/grappling game for both sport and self defense. Therefore, regardless of your age, health issues, or martial arts background, I personally recommend you train with Mass BJJ. The instructors are well known in the BJJ community, and all the students are helpful, surprisingly kind, and sometimes even funny. See you on the mats and happy rolling!"
